Brother DCP-J515W and MFC-J615W
You do not have to fully open the Brothers to replace an ink tank. Just open the small cover on the right side. Opening the upper cover is only necessary to access the USB- and network-interfaces.
Canon Pixma MG5150 and MG5250
The aperture angle of the upper lid is somewhat small, thus complicating the exchange of ink tanks and print heads. As soon as you open the upper lid, the print head holder moves into the exchange position.
Epson Stylus Office BX525WD and Stylus SX620FW
The upper cover of both Epson-AIOs can be opened wide. There is an additional lid for the ink tanks, superfluous in our opinion. Without this lid the exchange of ink tanks would be easier.
If you open the Epsons upper lid, nothing happens. Both AIOs continue printing or copying. Other AIOs halt on that, for safety reasons, to avoid bodily harm if you put your hand into the printer´s inside. In a self-experiment no harm was done, but you should keep away children.
HP Officejet 6500A E710a and Photosmart Plus B210a
Both print head holders move into the exchange position, as soon as you open their upper covers. You have lots of space to maneuver to insert the print head (just once) or the ink tanks.
Lexmark Prospect Pro205
The picture below shows the print head with its four ink tanks in the exchange position. You have to remove the empty ink tanks out of the bay and insert the new ones. Somewhat difficult with big hands.
