HP is now also concentrating on higher-margin laser printers. These pagewide models were extremely attractive in terms of purchase price and follow-up costs. Whereby one has probably also saved something on the construction - which showed quite a few failures here.
There are currently no alternatives. Epson is expected to launch such A4 models in 2023. But that will certainly go in the direction of 1,000 to 1,500 euros - but that's just a guess.

After this sad discovery, I don't know what alternatives to offer to my customers (mainly hotels or other accommodation facilities) looking for good color printers with low maintenance costs for printing of little importance (for example daily restaurant menus or evening event brochures).
I'm evaluating the Canon Mega Tanks but in terms of speed they seem much slower... what do you think? other flaws?
I excluded lasers first of all due to problems that in Italy are very difficult to find in these periods and the few available are at prices doubled compared to last year and also due to a very unfavorable copy cost problem in the case of multifunctions with toner with drum included.
The devices have a movable head. This is of course much slower than a pagewide.
If you need an "pagewide"-Modell, the cheapest one on the market is die 40-ppm-A3-printer Epson Workforce Enterprise AM-C4000 for about 6.000 Euro. Cheaper ones in A4 will follow this year ...

@budze is right. In your case I would also decide for an EPSON ET-5850 Ecotank.
As it is not that fast as the HP Pagewide printer, it is far away from being slow. Even the 2-sided print is acceptable fast. It has also some better features than the HP as the Ink is better against water and blurring . Also the printing costs are a good step lower.
We have a few customers who use this printer since 2 years, and I heard that they are really satisfied and there is trouble known from them until now.
