Comparative test Canon Pixma iP100 vs. HP Officejet H470: On the road with mobile printers
If you are away on business a lot with a notebook, you will cherish a mobile printer. And since the latter operates with WLAN and portable battery as well, you can get started hassle-free and fast, and begin printing.
Two printers, five models
Canon and HP offer their mobiles in five different outfits. Quality and speed of print are the same. The models are:
- HP Officejet H470
- HP Officejet H470b (with storage battery)
- HP Officejet H470wbt (with storage battery, Bluetooth, and printer sleeve)
DC tests the models with storage batteries.
Mobile printers are offered by Canon and HP only. Due to the small target-group, the printers are expensive: From 250 up to 350 Euros. To avoid high expenses, have a look at that: Workshop: Canon-Pixma-Drucker mobil machen. (At the moment this article is available in German only).
On the following pages we show you our test results: Cost of print, quality of print, features, and durability of the accumulators.
And the winner is...
HP Officejet H470, a margin better than Canon´s Pixma iP100. The HP´s ink cartridges have a longer durability than Canon´s midget ones. Both printers have a high cost of print (look at the page "Cost of print"). Speed and quality of print of both adversaries are ok. HP´s printer can score with an optional WLAN. And it has a card reader. Not so the Canon.
A nice and useful feature with HP´s H470: When the color cartridge is empty, you can continue printing with the black cartridge. And vice versa. The Canon can´t do that.
