1 failed nozzle on IP8500 = banding?

Hi all!

Sorry for not writing German...I can read it, but writing without horrible mistakes is a bit difficult...

I noticed some light banding on my IP8500 prints lately and decided to do a nozzle check. The normal nozzle check page is perfect but on the extended service check I can see 1 single nozzle of the photomagenta head refusing to work (1 little square in the grid is missing). The rest of the patterns are absolutely 100% ok.

Is it possible that the failure of 1 single nozzle is causing banding when I print in the highest quality, 8-pass mode? Or should I look more in ink feeding problems due to a bad cart? Regular and deep cleaning cycles do not resolve the problem...

FYI I'm using hobbicolors ink with original canon carts on HP advanced microporous paper.

it would be helpful, if you scan the extended nozzle-servicecheck
as jpeg-picture (less than 500x500 dpi or equal) set on your next message,

I can't include the actual extended nozzle check as I don't have a scanner/digicam here at the moment, but I made a small "simulation" and the photomagenta channel looks exactly like the picture below. As you can see there is a single nozzle missing. The grids of the other colors are 100% ok, and the rest of the service print is fine too.

hi nertog,
that´s probably a wear out of the printhead/-cartridge, if they have a lot of thousends prints made befor.
a new printhead should solve this problem, fourther cleanings a.s.
not.(costs round about 88,50 euro) here under:

I bought the printer secondhand and it only printed 265 pages...most of them were just text.

hi nertog,
thats nearly impossible, destroyed within only 265 pages printed.
in this case you should absolute try to clean/rinse the printhead as following:
from both side, nozzles and sieves,under the shower with hand-warm-water rinsing, until the colors are outwashed.
then you have to the hole printhead absolute perfectly drying.
either with press-air -softly- outblowing (par example), and after there,with the"hairwind" too(approx.50-60 degrees celsius is harmless).
then let (with a filled syring) aquadest on the sieves dropping, until the water down,out of the nozzles,on a folding kleenex are arised.
put them in the printer and the the color cartridges too, perform "head refresh or deep cleaning" ,serve testprint and have a look,
