Comparison of Technologies Ink versus Laser: Summary: Cost of Hardware
Brother´s mono laser HL-2150N will cost you about 180 Euros (MSRP), HP´s Officejet Pro 8000 some 30 Euros less.
Same thing with consumables. Brother has two expendable items: Toner cartridge (2.600 pages, ISO 19752) and imaging drum (12.000 pages), altogether 164 Euros.
HP´s ink-jet printer needs a set of four ink cartridges, in XL-size 88,50 Euros. The cartridge with black ink 940XL will cost you 29 Euros (MSRP) and will last, according to HP, for 2.200 prints (ISO 24711).
But prices of consumables reveal little about actual cost of print.
