Comparative Test Color Lasers up to 700 Euros: Ergonomics: Toner handling
Brother and Oki have imaging drums, which have to be replaced from time to time. Until the time of exchange you just have to replace the used toner. Brother has a cartridge, which also includes the developer. Oki´s cartridges just contain toner.
HP´s and Samsung´s cartridges include developer and imaging drum in one part.
Only Kyocera offers a permanent imaging drum, which remains in the printer for it´s complete "life" of 100.000 prints, the only consumables are the toners. Contrary to Kyocera´s C5200DN and C5300DN, which have imaging drums with ceramic coating, the FS-C5100DN comes with an organic imaging drum (OPC = Organic Photo Conductor).
