Canon Pixma iP4300 and Pixma iP3300: Cost of print
Our lab doesn´t rely on information on cost of print provided by manufacturers. We test each and every printer in detail, to find out the real cost of print.
To do that, we print standardized documents, until the tanks are empty. Since every printer has to do the same job with the same documents, you can compare cost of print between printers tested by DC.

Cost of print: Text
DC-Textseite: dc_leerdruck_5p.pdf.To find out the cost of print of a normal side of text on plain paper we use our test-document (dc_leerdruck_5p.pdf). It has a coverage of exactly five percent.
Both printers deliver 370 pages of text, then they demand an exchange of the black ink tank. Not counting the cost of paper the price for printing a page is 3,3 Cent.
That´s the same inexpensive level we found with the HP DeskJet 6940 and 6980
and the Epsons Stylus D88.
Cost of print: Color
We print the A4-file (see picture right side) in printer mode "high" on photopaper, until the first ink tank is empty.
The iP3300 doesn´t use photo black when printing in color. Black is a mix of cyan, magenta, and yellow. We print 78 pages with color, then the yellow tank is empty. Subtracting the value of the the remaining amount of ink in the other tanks we find 35 Cent for one A4 color page for the iP3300. That´s real cheap.
Same procedure with the iP4300. Here the yellow tank signals empty after 70 prints. A single color print on A4 costs 41 Cent.
Compared to other printers in the same segment both Pixmas print inexpensively.
