Comparative test Canon Pixma iP100 vs. HP Officejet H470: Cost of print
To determine the effective cost of print our lab uses the testfiles shown below. Cost of print for text is assessed by using this document: dc_leerdruck_5p.pdf. For color print costs we use this A4 photo: dc_fotoyield.tif.

If the manufacturer offers high yield cartridges, we use these for the yield test. The Canon comes with normal ink cartridges (CLI-36 and PGI-35). HP´s mobile features high yields, Nr. 344 and Nr. 338.
Our lab prints the text file shown above, until the black cartridge is empty. Subsequently the A4 color file is printed, until the color ink cartridge is empty.
Our analysis of printing costs includes three other printers. The bold marked mobiles have fairly high costs of print in comparison. But that´s fairly unimportant, more substantial is a high yield, so that ink isn´t running out while you visit a customer.

As soon as a cartridge is empty, the Canon-driver shows a message (see screenshots below). In spite of chipped cartridges the HP cannot give you a message about an empty cartridge. You only get a warning, that the ink level is low. From then on you have to observe the prints, whether they decline in quality or not.

In die Druckkosten kalkulieren wir anteilig verbrauchte Materialien auch nur anteilig hinein. Weiterhin berücksichtigt Druckerchannel die Starterreichweiten - diese werden vom Druckvolumen abgezogen und reduzieren somit die durchschnittlichen Seitenkosten.
