Comparative Test HP Officejet Pro 8500 vs.Samsung CLX-3175FW: Druckerchannel Bottom Line
Once again HP has demonstrated with it´s HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless A909g that professional printing requires no laser printer. With proper inks, ample outfit, and high output ink printers can do office jobs just as well as laser printers, or even better. And there are no problems with toner powder.
Arguments for this AIO are: Lower purchase price, better outfit, considerable lower costs of print, low energy consumption, higher speed of print, and in general better quality of print. The only flaw is smearing when using a fluorescent marker.
Samsungs Samsung CLX-3175FW costs 100 Euros more, comes with a scanty outfit, and prints in a definitely worse quality. Only advantage are absolutely smudge-free prints. In all other fields it ends up behind HPs AIO.
My personal summary
Low costs of print, extensive outfit and good quality of print are my preferences. Cheap color laser AIOs, like Samsungs CLX-3175FW or other AIOs in this price-segment made by HP, Brother, Dell, Oki, or Lexmark are too expensive for me in the long run. Most ink printers do better in this category, in purchase price as well. Printer handling via HPs touchscreen has convinced me as a coherent concept – however, I pushed the wrong key sometimes due to my big hands. Compared to it´s predecessors (HP Officejet Pro L7xxx AIO) the new Officejet Pro 8500 has piped down, and I like the novel fancy design.
