All rumors end: Pelikan got the chip
It took Pelikan two and a half years to copy the chip for Canon´s inkcartridges. And the legal stuff supposedly has been resolved. Behind all that is a reputable company: Pelikan. If a Chinese business were involved, things certainly would look different.
Pelikan wouldn´t talk about costs yet, but DC assumes you will have to pay 8 to 10 Euros for a Pelikan-CLI-8 cartridge.
Canon´s retail price is approximately 14 Euros, but you will find the original cartridge for less than 10 Euros.
The chip is not going to be sold to competitors, says Michael Büttner, e-Business-Manager with Pelikan. Own demands have to be met first.
And that adds up to the fact, that other makers of compatibles like Peach must have found another source of supply for their cartridges, and that could be Ninestar, for example. DC reported: Paperworld-News.
