Workshop: How to replace waste ink sponges of Canon S- & i-models

Older Canon models, like S750, S600, S6300, S500, S300, S900, S630, i560, i550, i865, i965, and i9950, also have waste ink sponges. This workshop will show you, how to replace them.

Step 3: Lift the print engine

To remove the print engine you have to unscrew it. There are two screws, backside, left and right.

Two screws: One on the left,...

...one on the right side.

On the frontside there are simple hinges. So, after unscrewing the print engine, you just lift it on the backside to take it out.

Print engine: Lift it on the backside. There are hinges on the front side.

Lift it: Then remove it to the backside.

When the print engine is removed, the case´s bottom with the sponges and the mains adaptor are in sight.

After removal: Sponges and mains adaptor visible.

Tubes: Channel ink into the sponges.

S750: Has two sponges, a small,...

...and a large one.

Now remove the sponges and either wash or exchange them.
