Quality of print in toner save mode

A special camera takes a picture of the letter "a" via microscope. The letter is printed in character size 11 point, the picture is then enlarged 30fold. For this purpose we use the document shown on the right hand side. You can use this document for your own tests, download it here: "Testdokumente".

All test prints (text, graphic, photo and yieldtest for the calculation of the printing costs) Druckerchannel uses the "Mondi IQ Triotec Premium"-paper.

This test is no beauty contest. More important are two facts: Significant reduction of toner application and minor drawback in readability.

That´s annoying: HP and Samsung have no toner save mode. Lots of toner is used unnecessarily even when printing drafts.

Brother has a toner save mode, but the saving is marginal. With Oki´s printer the toner save mode can´t be used when printing in gray scale.

Only Kyocera features a genuine toner save mode with definitely less toner on the paper. Readability is still good.
