Looking at Hewlett-Packard’s new Photosmart D5469, it seems to be a common HP-printer. But if you take a closer look, you will find a completely new technology, which strongly resembles Canon’s Pixma iP4500. In this test, DC is going to examine, whether or not it can compare to Canon’s successful Pixma iP4500.

Features part I

Despite of many technological innovations, the inside of this printer almost looks like the previous model, D5360.

Design and colors have changed marginally only. An innovation, if you want to call it that, is the color of the control panel, which changed from white to silver.

Operating controls

No change compared to the D5360, the number of keys is still reduced to a minimum. In combination with the display, which gives you wise advice, it makes the use of the printer very easy.

For normal use of the printer you need the "Power"- and the "Cancel"-button (the one with the red cross on it). And of course the "OK"-button to confirm the messages in the display.

Interfaces to connect to a PC

USB is it. Nothing else.

What is new? The D5460 sports a Pictbridge-interface, a feature the D5160 already had. Compatible digital cameras connect directly via USB. And USB-sticks can be used as well, without switching on your PC.
