Test: HP Photosmart D5460

Looking at Hewlett-Packard’s new Photosmart D5469, it seems to be a common HP-printer. But if you take a closer look, you will find a completely new technology, which strongly resembles Canon’s Pixma iP4500. In this test, DC is going to examine, whether or not it can compare to Canon’s successful Pixma iP4500.

To test graphics print speed and quality we use vector graphics (see picture on the right), processed by Coreldraw.

Our lab prints the test file on HP professional inkjet papier 120 matt (Q6593A). Driver setting for quality is "optimal".

Graphic printing: Done well and fast.

Shades of grey: No color faults.

Graphic printing is very good and fast: It takes 56 seconds to print our test file. This makes the D5460 class winner in graphics print speed.

Good readability: Tiny 2-point-characters are displayed in good quality

Shades of grey are printed without color faults. The small print (0.5 millimeters in size) is no problem for the D5460, although the ink is applied somewhat thick; but readability is ok.
