Knowhow 3: What Paper is made of

Bestandteile von Papier: Im Wesentlichen Zellstoff.

Paper consists mainly of

• Fibres (pulp, mechanic pulp)
• Fillers (chalk, kaolin, talcum, gypsum, barium sulfate, titanium white)
• Starch (potatoes, corn)
• Excipients (colors, flocking agents) and
• water

Paper components: Mainly pulp.

There are two types of fibres:

• Raw material which is used for the first time, e.g. straw and wood (birch, beech, poplar, eucalyptus)
• Recyled paper.
