Paperhandling
Both printers have two paper feed shafts. The upper one can take up to 150 sheets. The lower one of the iP4300 takes another 150, with the iP3300 it´s another 100.
Pixma iP3300: Lower paper tray holds 100 sheets.
With the iP4300 you get an integrated duplex unit for automatic double-sided printing.
When printing on both sides of a sheet we found out that you get very pale prints in comparison to one-sided printing. Canon says that this a requirement to avoid soiling of the paper feed rollers.
When printing on one side only the iP4300 utilizes the PGI-5BK cartridge with pigmented text-black. Printing double-sided it uses the CLI-8BK cartridge with photo-black.
Interfaces
Both printers have, just like the iP4200, only one interface to connect to a PC: USB 2.0.
They both have a direct-print feature (PictBridge) on the front side.
Operating components
Just like it´s predecessors we find an on/off switch, a button to cancel a print job, and one for paper tray selection. A small LED signals, whether the upper or the lower paper tray is in use. To use this feature, you have to choose "Paper supply button" in the printer driver.
Right below the three buttons on the printer´s right side you find the PictBride interface for direct printing from compatible digital cameras.
All features mentioned above can be found on the iP3300 as well, except for the paper tray selection directly on the printer.
