You are printing a lot with your Canon? All of a sudden you get a message: "Waste ink tank full", and your machine stops working. There´s no hint whatsoever in your manual, what to do about this. What next? Call customer service and pay as much as you payed for your printer do get the damned thing changed?

Step 2: Removing the printer´s top

After removal of the right side you see three cogwheels.

Turn the big one clockwise, and the printhead becomes unlocked.

Now you remove the printer´s top. Open the clips in the two marked places, pull the top to the front and lift it off the printer.

The top might resist your efforts, because it can get stuck in several places. Do not use brute force, just bend the afflicted part just a little bit.

Remove the top of the printer.

It is attached on the back in two places.

One clip on the left side...

...one on the right side.

The top is attached in front.

In places marked with an arrow: Bend the plastic carefully.

Now you can take off the cover of the interface as well.

With the top away: Have a look at the print engine.

Before lifting the print engine: Remove the cover of the interfaces.
